It’s no doubt the ‘90s were iconic years for fashion. From denim on denim to posh, plaid miniskirts, it was familiar and fresh all at once.

Growing up in the ‘90s, there’s something wonderfully nostalgic about certain pieces from your childhood becoming trendy again. I, too, couldn’t help but dig out some old gems tucked away, like this faux pearl barrette. It’s safe to say the ‘90s are back and are in full swing.

Here are three ways to embrace the resurgence of ‘90s fashion.

Pay Tribute With Some High-Waisted Denim

Whether it’s a full on Canadian tuxedo or a beloved pair of jeans, denim will always be a classic go-to. Channel you inner ‘90s self by trading in low-rise pants for a pair of high-waisted, straight-legged jeans. You can never go wrong with Levi’s or Calvin Klein.

Play With Prints And Textures

A paisley scarf, a velvet blazer, an old band tee—all perfect ways to bring a sophisticated, yet nostalgic feel to any outfit. Extra points if it’s a shirt of your favorite ‘90s band (Avril Lavigne, anyone?) Checked and plaid prints are also great options to help reminisce the good old days.

It’s All About The Details

Achieve the ‘90s quintessential look by accenting an ensemble with fun hair accessories like a scrunchie or few hair clips. These bring the perfect amount of chic nostalgia to any outfit. For barrettes and hair clips, I’ve been loving the selections at Valet Studio and Free People. Etsy is another great option to look for unique pieces.
