Copenhagen Fashion Week
What do you do when you’re in Copenhagen during fashion week? You wing it and go to a show or two to see what would happen. Looking back at my time there, it’s safe to say I’m so happy I did as it ended up being an unforgettable experience—a true ‘cross-it-off-your-bucket-list’ moment for me, if you will.
On the first day of fashion week, I woke up debating if I should go. Although I told myself in the weeks leading up the to trip I would without a doubt try, feelings of anxiousness crept in. At the last minute, I decided to go and got ready in 20 minutes, practically running a mile and a half to the show location.
The Gestuz show was located at The Lab, a spacious, industrial building. When I first walked up, it took me a moment to figure out where the action took place. It wasn’t until I walked toward the back of the building and saw a row of photographers capturing fashion-goers that I knew.
Feeling nervous on the inside but (hopefully) appearing calm on the outside, I walked toward the venue and was photographed along the way. While this may seem like a simple feat, it meant so much to me. Growing up and viewing countless street-style photos, I always wished I could be there in person to experience the excitement firsthand. Now, I have.
When I envisioned this moment, there was no doubt which outfit I would wear but this one-of-a-kind dress, accompanied by gold accessories and a vintage bag. While the sneakers were not a part of the original plan, they did help me make the trek out there on time.
The next day, I felt more confident showing up to the Baum und Pferdgarten show, which was located in the city center. Since the runway was set up on the street, I was able to view the show, which was incredibly exciting. It was my first official show experience—one I will never forget!
Leaving this show, I was on such a high, very happy with how the past two days turned out. To make the experience even more special, I found myself in an article by Nylon, the magazine I read growing up. It truly felt like a full circle moment.
