Five SS20 Runway Trends To Inspire Secondhand Looks

Fashion month has once again reached an end with the final collections premiering yesterday in Paris. Although the hustle and bustle of fashion month is over, we find ourselves with a newfound excitement for the upcoming spring/summer season. While I certainly won’t be going on a designer shopping spree, I love to take notes on my favorite looks featured on the runway for inspiration. Here are five ‘trends’ to look for and recreate next time you’re shopping secondhand.

Power sleeves

To me, power sleeves pieces will never go out of style, and thankfully are pretty easy to find when thrifting. Think a structured blazer, a vintage dress with strong shoulders, or a balloon sleeved top. These are all perfect contenders to feel empowered while recreating a runway look.

Tube tops

From Givenchy to Stella McCartney, tube tops made a stunning appearance. Designers took this throwback top and made it their own using lace or an elaborate fan detail.

Denim, denim, denim

Warning: this is not your average Hollister skirt from high school. Scope out the denim section for maxi/midi skirts or even a two-toned dress.

Workwear

Feel confident in a workwear ensemble, whether it’s a pleated white dress or a pair of tan trousers. Buy a size or two bigger or browse the men’s section to achieve an oversized look.

An extravagant dress or two

Secondhand shops are notorious for having endless amounts of funky, floral prints and textures. Embrace the long silhouette and have some fun picking out accessories. A chunky belt or pair of colorful boots are both great for a finishing touch.
