Between Seasons
As August comes to an end, the transition to fall is either greeted with open arms or cold shoulders. While summer will surely be missed, I definitely fall into the open arms category. I just can’t help but get excited about the reemergence of fall clothing. If I could, I would gladly wear denim, an oversized blazer, and boots every day.
Blazers aside, this time can be especially tricky when accommodating to the transition from summer to fall. It’s likely that temperatures are all over the place, (living in the Midwest doesn’t help) causing all sorts of frustration. With that, here are my three tips when tackling this tricky time between seasons aka when the weather has no idea what it’s doing.
When in doubt, layer
We’ve all experienced that not-so-great moment of being chilly one minute and sweating the next. For times like this, layering is the way to go. Pair a tank or tee with your favorite jacket and you’re all set. Blazers and faux leather jackets are my go-to’s.
Stick to light, breathable materials
That’s right, I’m talking about those days in September when it’s 80 degrees and you’re questioning when the fall weather will actually start. On days like these, I love breaking out my linen pieces because the material is great for coverage without being too stuffy. Plus, it’s eco-friendly and makes you feel like you should be relaxing on a yacht all day.
Incorporate maxi skirts and dresses in your wardrobe
This tip goes out to all of those who are trying to cling onto summer for as long as possible. Maxi skirts and dresses give that relaxed, flowy feeling we all know and love from summer all while accommodating to those cooler transitional days. Here, I chose a rust-colored knit dress that I thrifted earlier in summer.
