A Vegandale Feast
Vegandale is a food and drink festival that celebrates all of my favorite things—ethical living, sustainability, and veganism. This was my second year in attendance and I’m already looking forward to next year! I would be lying if I said I didn’t count down the days to it each summer. Think delicious vegan food/drink vendors for days with the stunning Chicago skyline as a backdrop.
Our first stop at a food festival in the Windy City? A Chicago style veggie dog, of course! The same great taste courtesy of Beyond Meat. It’s safe to say the original Chicago style hotdog has some competition ;)
The next stops on our food journey were 12oh7 for mouthwatering jackfruit tacos + all the fixings and Crazy Jack Vegan for their Brazilian jackfruit croquettes. These croquettes instantly brought me back to my study abroad days in Spain, so it’s safe to say I was in love. To cool off, we sat in the shade and downed some fresh coconut water from the Coco Club.
One doesn’t go to Vegandale and not stop by Pie, Pie My Darling’s stand. Heather’s vegan desserts are simply out of this world. Photographed above is her version of everyone’s favorite treat growing up—the cosmic brownie.
Urban Vegan’s orange ‘chicken’ and veggie spring rolls were the last two dishes on our Vegandale menu. I have always been a huge fan of spring rolls and these were no exception. The orange ‘chicken’ was the real deal too, made from tofu and the iconic sauce. While we wanted to go and sample more, we were stuffed. Comfy/stretchy bottoms are a must. Until next year, Vegandale!
